The magazine Muy Interesante echoes the process of reconstructing Shanidar's Neanderthal skull
The magazine Muy Interesante reports on the process of reconstructing the face of a Neanderthal who lived 75,000 years ago and was recovered at the Shanidar site in the territory currently occupied by Iraqi Kurdistan.
This facial reconstruction process has been possible thanks to a team of archaeologists and paleoanthropologists led by the University of Cambridge, among whom is Dr. Lucía López-Polín, a researcher at IPHES-CERCA and responsible for the conservation and reconstruction work on the remains.
The meticulous process of recovering the fossils of this woman, named Shanidar Z, and giving her a face is described in a Netflix documentary produced by the BBC, “Secrets of the Neanderthals”
