Dr. Carme García Yeste evaluates the IPHES project in the SCHOOLS on the Evoluciona program of Tarragona Ràdio, paying tribute to our friend and colleague Miquel Guardiola
Evoluciona, la investigació sobre l'evolució humana, amb l'IPHES-CERCA i Tarragona Ràdio
This week's protagonist is Dr. Carme García Yeste, vice-dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Psychology at Rovira i Virgili University and researcher of the research group MEDIS (Research Methodology with Social Impact), which is now called IMSE (Social Impact and Education) . In addition Dr. Yeste is the driver of the transformation of the Mediterranean Institute-school of Tarragona.
In the recent article published in the international journal Frontiers in Education, signed posthumously by our colleague Miquel Guadiola, it is made clear that the IPHES project in the Schools has generated a series of benefits for the students it has targeted, especially in those aspects related to the increase in their interest in science and the positive perception towards it, and that this has contributed to reducing school dropout which is unfortunately common in this context of vulnerability
But Dr. Yeste has particularly highlighted the work carried out by Miquel Guardiola, his passion when it comes to passing on his knowledge, his empathy and complicity with the students, especially with the most disadvantaged, and considers that this work has been key to to the success of the objectives set by the program and by the collaboration between IPHES, the MEDIS Consolidated Research Group and the Learning Community of the highly vulnerable educational centers present in Tarragona.
The entire IPHES team would like to deeply thank the words of Dra. Yeste for the memory of a friend and colleague. The rigor of the work carried out has had a very strong impact on all the children who were able to enjoy his workshops, and this publication shows that this is the way to go and that Miquel's legacy will last forever.
