IPHES-CERCA raises nearly €1,400 to support metastatic breast cancer research
More than 40 people take part in a fundraising breakfast organised as part of the “IPHES Against Metastasis. Leaving Our Mark” campaign
The initiative, led by Sandra Robado, a member of the centre’s Administration and Management Department, brought together solidarity, science communication and awareness-raising about the importance of research
IPHES-CERCA held a fundraising breakfast yesterday as part of the campaign “IPHES Against Metastasis. Leaving Our Mark”, an initiative aimed at raising funds to support research into metastatic breast cancer. The event brought together more than 40 members of the centre’s research, technical and administrative staff and has so far raised nearly €1,400, well exceeding its initial target of €800.
The initiative was organised by Sandra Robado, a member of the Administration and Management Department at IPHES-CERCA, who has personally experienced the disease and wanted to turn her experience into a collective effort to raise awareness and support scientific research.
A fundraising breakfast to leave a mark
The event began with a fundraising breakfast that provided an opportunity for staff members to come together and show their support. Participants were also invited to contribute to the “Research Mural”, a symbolic activity inspired by the campaign’s slogan, “Leaving Our Mark”, through which they could express their commitment to the fight against metastatic breast cancer.
The event also featured a talk by Dr Teresa Blasco, from IRB Barcelona, who shared insights into ongoing research on metastasis. Her presentation offered staff members an opportunity to learn about scientific advances in this field and highlighted the importance of understanding the mechanisms involved in cancer progression to develop new therapeutic strategies.
The fundraising campaign remains open
Although the initial fundraising target has already been exceeded, the campaign remains open for further donations to continue supporting metastatic breast cancer research.
