L'ésser humà sempre ha necessitat expressar les seves emocions, inquietuds i pensaments. Una manera de fer-ho ha estat a través de l'art, especialment en una època en què l'escriptura no existia. A finals del Paleolític, els humans que van habitar al litoral ia zones interiors d'Aragó, Catalunya, Llevant i Andalusia van escollir abrics i coves poc profundes per representar escenes de la seva vida quotidiana. El conjunt de jaciments de l´Arc Mediterrani de la Península Ibèrica, declarat Patrimoni Mundial, és el conjunt d´art rupestre més gran d´Europa. Un tresor que s'ha ampliat amb la troballa a la Cova de la Vila, al terme municipal de la Febró, a Tarragona, de més d'un centenar de gravats prehistòrics excepcionals per la singularitat i l'excel·lent estat de conservació.
