L'arquèoleg i expert en prehistòria i evolució humana, Eudald Carbonell, no considera alarmant que la humanitat hagi arribat als vuit mil milions d'individus. Carbonell, que acaba de publicar "El futur de la humanitat, decàleg per a la supervivència de la nostra espècie" (Ara Llibres), considera que el col·lapse de la humanitat, que ja ha començat, no depèn del nombre d'individus, sinó de la capacitat de l'espècie de fer un "reset" de l'actual model social i econòmic global. L'Eudald aporta algunes claus per aconseguir-ho, començant per acabar amb les elits extractives i el model productiu dominant.
