Encarnació Ricart, new Ombudsperson at IPHES-CERCA

Ricart succeeds Paco Zapater, who concludes four years in this role providing support, mediation and guidance to the Institute’s community

IPHES-CERCA is beginning a new chapter in the role of Ombudsperson with the appointment of Encarnació Ricart, who succeeds Paco Zapater after four years in the position. The handover was formally completed on Tuesday, 15 September, coinciding with the end of Zapater’s term.

The Ombudsperson provides members of the IPHES-CERCA community with an independent space for listening, guidance and mediation in situations or conflicts that may arise within the Institute, with the aim of fostering dialogue and seeking mutually agreed solutions.

Over the past four years, Paco Zapater has carried out this role in the service of the IPHES-CERCA community. In his farewell message, he reflected very positively on this period, describing it as an enriching experience, and expressed his particular gratitude for the trust, respect and cooperation he received from members of the Institute.

IPHES-CERCA would like to express its sincere gratitude to Paco Zapater for the dedication, availability and commitment he has shown over these four years, as well as for his contribution to fostering an environment of trust, dialogue and conciliation within the institution.

Encarnació Ricart takes over the role

Encarnació Ricart now assumes this responsibility, ensuring continuity in the work carried out to date. Ricart has extensive academic and institutional experience, including specific expertise in this field, having served, among other positions, as Ombudsperson of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV).

The new Ombudsperson will maintain the existing arrangements, with an in-person presence at IPHES-CERCA one Friday each month, as well as the possibility of contacting her through the usual remote communication channels.

The Director of IPHES-CERCA, Marina Mosquera, has expressed her particular gratitude to Paco Zapater for his work and welcomed Encarnació Ricart to her new role, highlighting the experience and personal qualities of both and the importance of having trusted professionals to fulfil this function within the institution.

IPHES-CERCA therefore welcomes Encarnació Ricart to her new role and reiterates its gratitude to Paco Zapater for four years of dedication and service to the entire community.
