IPHES-CERCA congratulates the team behind the documentary 'Recuerdo tu nombre' on its awards at the Málaga Festival

IPHES-CERCA would like to congratulate the team behind the documentary Recuerdo tu nombre, directed by Silvia Venegas, on receiving two awards at the Málaga Festival: the Special Jury Prize and the Audience Award in the section Afirmando los Derechos de las Mujeres.

The film focuses on recovering the memory of women who were victims of violence during the Spanish Civil War, through the work of archaeologist Laura Muñoz-Encinar, a Ramón y Cajal researcher at the Institute of Heritage Sciences (INCIPIT-CSIC) and one of the documentary’s protagonists. Her research, centred on the exhumation of mass graves and the study of violence against women, forms a key element of the narrative.

IPHES-CERCA would like to highlight Dr. Muñoz’s career, who has long been linked to the institution. She recently delivered a lecture at our headquarters entitled “Archaeology of Francoist violence against women”, as part of International Women’s Day, a powerful and necessary talk that encouraged reflection on the importance of understanding and preserving this memory.

This international recognition highlights both the documentary’s commitment to human rights and the role of archaeological research in recovering the silenced voices of history.
