Rosa Huguet, nominated for the Bona Gent Awards of the Diari de Tarragona
Researcher Rosa Huguet, from IPHES-CERCA, has been nominated for the Bona Gent Awards of the Diari de Tarragona for her key role in leading the discovery of “Pink”, a human facial fragment found at the Sima del Elefante site in Atapuerca and dated to between 1.1 and 1.4 million years ago. The discovery, published in the journal Nature, had an enormous scientific and media impact worldwide and represents a milestone in the study of the earliest human populations in Europe.
From IPHES-CERCA, we would like to thank the Diari de Tarragona for recognising the research carried out at our centre and in our city research that is cutting-edge, rigorous and internationally competitive, and that contributes decisively to advancing knowledge of human evolution.
This nomination is not only a recognition of Rosa Huguet’s scientific career, but also of the collective work of a large team of researchers at IPHES-CERCA who, for many years, have been actively involved in the Atapuerca projects and in the generation of scientific knowledge of excellence.
For this reason, we encourage everyone to take part in the voting process and to support Rosa Huguet’s candidacy, as a representative of a team and of a way of understanding research that is committed to the local community and clearly oriented towards international impact.
Votes can be cast every day and as many times as desired through this link.
