25N: IPHES-CERCA in support of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
IPHES-CERCA joins the fight to eradicate gender-based violence on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25N) and adheres to the manifesto of the Commission for Women and Science of the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia, which states that universities and research centres must act as benchmarks in terms of equality and the elimination of violence against women. It also denounces that gender-based violence is the result of a structural patriarchal dynamic and reminds that the knowledge system is not exempt from it.
In the words of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, “violence against women and girls is the most widespread human rights violation in the world”, manifesting itself in different ways: physical, sexual, psychological and economic, and affecting families and communities of all generations and in all parts of the world.
The IPHES Equality Committee and gender equality
The IPHES-CERCA Equality Committee is working on the implementation of various initiatives in favour of gender equality and the eradication of gender-based violence, such as, in accordance with the HRS4R strategy, the development of a protocol and a practical guide to provide guidance on procedures in cases of harassment.
To commemorate 25N, the Committee has organised a gathering this Tuesday in front of the centre’s headquarters to express the unanimous support of all staff
