Calafell brings prehistory closer to the public with workshops and an open day at the archaeological laboratory
Next Sunday, 7 December, Calafell will host a day of free activities open to all audiences to discover prehistory in a participatory and experiential way, within the framework of the Calafell Prehistòric programme, co-organised by the Calafell City Council and IPHES-CERCA.
The activities will be led by Andrea Alías, socialisation technician at IPHES-CERCA, together with the team of researchers currently excavating at the Balma de la Griera site, who will share with the public their knowledge and first-hand experience of the archaeological work being carried out there.
Morning, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm (two sessions: 11:00 am and 12:15 pm)
Open visit to the Balma de la Griera excavation
A guided tour of the archaeological site to learn first-hand about the fieldwork, the methodologies used and the scientific relevance of the site.
Workshop “Life in Prehistory”
A participatory and educational activity aimed at family audiences to discover how our ancestors lived through didactic proposals and experiential dynamics.
Afternoon, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Open day at the archaeologists’ laboratory
A visit to the facilities located at Espai Palou (Calafell Castle), where the analysis, study and conservation processes of the archaeological remains recovered from the site are carried out.
