Marina Lozano’s lecture in Salou on human evolution

On Monday, 3 November, Dr. Marina Lozano, researcher at IPHES-CERCA and professor at the Rovira i Virgili University (URV), will deliver a lecture entitled “Yes, We Still Evolve” at the Sala Mediterrània of the TAS in Salou.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. and is organised by the Salou City Council and the URV’s Campus Extens branch in Salou, as part of the Autumn in Salou activities programme, within the framework of Catalan Capital of Culture 2025.

In her talk, Lozano will explain that all of us, Homo sapiens, are the result of more than six million years of evolution, and that although we are often not fully aware of it, human evolution is still ongoing today. Through various examples, she will discuss how some current health problems have their origins in this long evolutionary process and how scientific research helps us understand these mechanisms.

Using an engaging and accessible language, Dr. Lozano will invite the audience to reflect on what it means to “evolve” and how environmental, cultural and social changes continue to shape our species.
