Marina Lozano to discuss the role of diet in human evolution in a conference in Dénia
The IPHES-CERCA researcher and URV professor will take part in the “Dénia City of Thought” series, a project that promotes dialogue between science, culture, and society
On Thursday, 23 October, Dr. Marina Lozano, researcher at IPHES-CERCA, professor at the Rovira i Virgili University (URV), and representative of the Atapuerca research team and the Museum of Human Evolution of Burgos, will deliver the lecture “Human Engines: the role of diet in human evolution” as part of the Dénia City of Thought 2025 programme.
The event will take place at L’Androna Multiespai within the framework of the Gastronomy Day, organised in collaboration with the Office for Innovation and Creativity and the AEHTMA. The session will also feature the participation of Burgos, UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, and the Museum of Human Evolution of Burgos.
In her talk, Lozano will explore how diet and eating habits have been decisive drivers in the evolutionary process of our species, shaping the anatomical, physiological, and cultural traits of human beings.
The Dénia City of Thought programme, promoted by the Dénia Creative City Foundation, aims to foster reflection and debate around knowledge, creativity, and sustainability. Throughout October and November, the initiative brings together experts from diverse disciplines in a series of talks and round tables structured around three thematic areas: Territory, Social Sciences, and Business and Humanities.
