Sàpiens magazine features a report on the Espai Mammuthus in La Canonja
The magazine Sàpiens has published in its October issue a report devoted to the Espai Mammuthus, the municipal museographic facility of La Canonja that showcases the research carried out at the Barranc de la Boella site. The article, written by journalist Oriol Gracià, highlights the direct connection between this outreach centre and the scientific work conducted for years by the research team led by Dr. Palmira Saladié and Dr. Josep Vallverdú, researchers at IPHES-CERCA.
The report offers a tour through the different areas of the Espai Mammuthus, guided by Palmira Saladié, who takes readers on a journey through the history of the site and its exceptional discoveries. The article underlines the importance of La Boella as one of the most significant sites on the Iberian Peninsula for studying the earliest human occupations and the interactions between hominins and large mammals during the Early Pleistocene.
The Espai Mammuthus, inaugurated last June, is an initiative of the La Canonja Town Council with the support of IPHES-CERCA and the Tarragona Provincial Council. It forms part of the municipality’s commitment to enhancing the value of its palaeontological and archaeological heritage.
