IPHES-CERCA mourns the loss of Jane Goodall
IPHES-CERCA expresses its deepest condolences for the loss of Jane Goodall, primatologist, conservationist and undisputed reference in the study of the evolution of behavior and cognition. Her research transformed the way we understand our origins and laid the foundations for a new vision of the relationship between humans and other primates.
Over decades of work, Goodall demonstrated that the study of the behavior of chimpanzees in the wild could offer fundamental keys to understanding human evolution. Her scientific perspective, marked by sensitivity and respect for nature, opened up research paths that are still a source of inspiration for the international scientific community today.
From IPHES-CERCA we have had the opportunity to share moments with her and to grasp not only her value as an exceptional researcher and communicator, but also her profound humanity. Her commitment to protecting threatened ecosystems, her courage and her endearing way of transmitting hope have left an indelible mark.
Jane Goodall has been, and will continue to be, a reference for our scientific community and for all those people who believe in a science committed to the planet and the future of new generations.
IPHES-CERCA would like to pay tribute to her legacy and join in the condolences of her family, collaborators and admirers around the world.
