IPHES-CERCA coordinates a UNED summer course on the heritage of the Baza and Guadix basin
From September 24 to 26, 2025, the UNED offers in Baza (Granada) the summer course “ The geological, paleontological and prehistoric heritage of the Baza and Guadix basin : keys to its importance in the European and Mediterranean context ”, in person and online.
The course is coordinated by Dr. Bienvenido Martínez-Navarro, ICREA researcher attached to IPHES-CERCA, and has the participation of a large number of specialists in geology, paleontology and prehistory. The aim is to disseminate the latest advances in the study of this basin, considered one of the best stratigraphic and paleobiological records in Europe of the last seven million years.
In addition to the academic sessions, the program includes workshops and an excursion to the Granada Geopark, with a visit to the main paleontological and archaeological sites in the area, such as Baza 1, Venta Micena or Fuente Nueva.
