Dr. Jordi Agustí participates in Science Needs You! with a conference on paleoneurology

On September 27th, the main day of Science Needs You!, a scientific dissemination event organized by the Catalan Association for Scientific Dissemination (ACDIC), which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary, will be held in Figueres. The meeting, consolidated as a reference event in the country, focuses on neuroscience under the title "Neuroscience: deciphering the secrets of the mind", and will feature the participation of top-level researchers.

Among the speakers, Dr. Jordi Agustí i Ballester, emeritus research professor at the Catalan Institute of Human Paleoecology and Social Evolution (IPHES-CERCA), will give the conference “ Paleoneurology: studying the evolution of the human brain”. His contribution will highlight how the study of cranial fossils and brain morphology helps us understand the origin and evolution of the cognitive capacities that define us as a species.

The main event, hosted by journalist Montse Rigall, will take place at the Caputxins Auditorium in Figueres and will include three conferences and a round table with the participation of doctors Mara Dierssen, Anna Forés and Jordi Agustí. The program will address such relevant topics as the functioning of the brain, the application of neuroscience to education and the keys to brain evolution in hominids.

Beyond the main day, Science Needs You! is rolling out an extensive calendar of parallel activities in Figueres and Cadaqués until November: informative talks, film forums and special sessions that will address issues such as the impact of screens on mental health, the role of emotions in science and the influence of neuroscience on the arts.

With the participation of Dr. Jordi Agustí, IPHES-CERCA once again demonstrates its commitment to scientific dissemination and the desire to connect the most advanced research in human evolution with society.
